You might have to hold your breath for this one…
Ok, literally hold your breath. Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is not the yummiest smelling or tasting, but the health benefits are UNREAL and totally worth the #stank. If you’re new to the ACV world, don’t be turned off by the smell…I promise, you do get used it after some time!
Scents aside, apple cider vinegar is one of nature’s miracle workers. And there’s two ways you can reap the benefits: you can ingest it or apply it topically. Sam and I each have our favorite methods for these, which we’ll break down in our experimentations below. Both methods provide amazing benefits to your body like…
- Helping to keep your immune system in tip top shape
- Restoring your body’s pH balance (inside and out!)
- Removing nasty toxins that build up over time
- Promoting healthy, glowy skin
- Even reducing muscle aches after a strenuous gym sesh!
Let’s talk about Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
Now, you know we’re all about brands here. Evaluating the quality and effectiveness of trendy brands is pretty much our motto. And the world of apple cider vinegar is no different! We’ll come right out and say that after experiment with different brands, Bragg is definitely the winner. It has just the right balance of apple and vinegar (sounds extremely obvious, but you’ll be surprised at how other brands differ in taste!) Even though their packaging and website is a designer’s nightmare, the Bragg family story is extremely inspiring and brings the brand to life. Seriously, check it out!

My favorite way of incorporating ACV into my life is by ingesting it. Every. Single. Morning.
I was first introduced to ACV morning elixirs by my girls at Tone It Up. They recommend you start your day with a shot of apple cider vinegar mixed with water and either apple juice or pineapple juice to get your metabolism up and running. My favorite go-to recipe these days is:
Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Morning Elixir
- 1 cup of warm water
- Juice from ½ lemon
- 1 Tbsp. of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
The Truth Behind Apple Cider Vinegar
Real talk: I literally HATED drinking this every morning. The first few weeks of taking it were not pleasant in any way. This stuff cleared me out (in every way possible…yes, TMI.) The smell and taste was hard to take and sometimes gave me goosebumps. I sat there and wondered, “Why the heck am I torturing myself with this?!” So I decided to give it a rest. I was convinced that AVC was not for me!
But a few months later (after forgetting how unpleasant my first experience was), I decided to give it another shot. And Alex joined in on the fun! I think having someone to share my ACV morning drink with made it a lot easier to take. We literally look at each other, down the drink, shake it off and go about our day.
After taking this stuff every weekday morning (we take a break on the weekends because #balance), we have noticed a HUGE difference in our digestive systems. We can tolerate foods a lot better and feel healthier and more energized than ever before. Our skin is calmer, oil levels are lower and we’re able to fight off colds much faster than we used to.
So all in all, after battling through the first round, this is now a must-have in both our morning routines. I really do feel it’s making a difference and think it’s worth a try if you’re interested!
So I tried joining in on Claudia’s stinky morning routine…and failed.
ACV has the ability to restore your pH balance, but for me…it threw it right off. After a few days of taking a shot of it every morning, I knew this method wasn’t for me. Let’s just say I didn’t like where my body was with ACV in it.
My biggest battle is always my skin. I sit on this teeter totter of my skin being too dry and oily or too moisturized and clogged. Struggle city. I started doing some research and found that most of our day-to-day skincare products throw off your pH balance on your skin. What’s the point, then?! So using ACV daily is supposed to restore that balance and prevent breakouts. I made my own DIY face toner with this recipe:
DIY Facial Toner with Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
- One part Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
- Three parts distilled water
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Speaking of, you could add a little lemon juice to even out texture and brighten those scars!
So results…I hate to say it, but I didn’t feel much of a difference in my skin while using this homemade ACV toner. It’s always such a bummer when something so promising just doesn’t seem to do the trick. After over a month of use, I’ve given up.
So if not apples, maybe raspberries…? I just got the Cocokind Raspberry Vinegar Toner in the mail and I’m so excited to test it out. The experimentation continues!
As with other product experimentations, my Aha! Moment happens every time I travel. Even if I’m only gone for a few days, I can feel the difference in my digestive system after missing out on my regular ACV morning elixir. I’m constantly bloated and take irregular trips to the ladies room (sorry, gotta be real here.) As soon as I get home and take my morning shot, I’m cleaned out and balanced. Eating out while I travel doesn’t help, but ACV really does help me digest foods a lot easier so the absence of it does a number on me.
Of course, results vary based on your body and its natural pH levels. Like you learned with Sam’s experiment, ingesting ACV is certainly not for everyone! It’s super important to listen to your body and make changes according to how it’s reacting. You be you!!
Speaking for myself though, I have to give Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar the CO Stamp of Approval! I don’t know that I can live without my morning elixirs anymore…#dramaticbuttrue.
